Date started at MPCT 2015 Experience

Justin Edwards lives in a small town in West Wales with his wife and two children. Justin joined the Armed forces in 1993 where he served with the Royal Regiment of Wales for 9 exciting and varied years with Royal Regiment of Wales, which included a number of postings including; Northern Ireland on Operation BANNER, London on public duties and Germany in an armoured infantry role before being posted to the Infantry Training Centre Catterick as a Physical Training Instructor training adult recruits. During Justin’s Military career, he was fortunate to have gained a broad range of experience in roles such as foot soldiering, peacekeeping, covert surveillance, reconnaissance and armoured infantry. Justin is also a keen sportsman and was fortunate enough to not only represent Royal Regiment of Wales but represented the Army and Combined Services teams at under 21 level.

In 2003, Justin became a serving Police Officer within Dyfed Powys Police where he worked within a number of specialist departments such as Roads Policing and Armed Response, policing the whole of South Wales.
Justin then made a career change into the Private Security industry and worked for a number of years as a Close Protection Officer and Operations Manager on a number of private and government contracts in hostile environments.

In 2015, Justin joined MPCT as an instructor at Bridgend College. In 2016, Justin was promoted and given the opportunity of becoming the Centre Manager of Swansea MPCT. This position allowed him the opportunity to develop his leadership skills and a display a passion of ensuring each and every learner had a clear pathway from being part of the college. Justin tirelessly searched for outside partnerships with the same vison and ethos as MPCT that could provide direction and support. In 2018, Justin was once again promoted to Regional Operations Manager of Wales - this position enables him to search out new partnerships and agencies that may or may not be aware of the college and the Learners that we teach.

Justin is a keen cyclist and is currently training to take part in this year’s Ironman Wales which consists of a 2.4 mile swim (3.9km), 112 mile cycle (180km) and a 26.2 mile (42.2km) run.

Date started at MPCT 2017 Experience

Sam joined the Army at 16 with the Royal Engineers. During this time, he completed various courses including All Arms Parachute Selection, All Arms Commando Course, Army Advanced Diver, All Arms PTI and Basic EOD Qualification. Later in his career, Sam completed selection for a newly formed SF Regiment.

Joining the military allowed Sam to travel around the World on exercises and operational tours and this further provided him with the opportunity to meet interesting people with many whom he has remained close friends with to this day.

After leaving the military, Sam moved to France and began work in the Private Military/Security sector across North and West Africa as well as the Middle East in support of UK Foreign Office projects.

Upon return to the UK, Sam worked as a Private Investigator for a period, tracing and locating missing people and persons of interest. At the same time, Sam set up an outdoor survival school with a friend that taught survival skills to children and adults on the weekends. Sam then moved to South Wales and eventually joined MPCT in August, 2017.

Sam enjoys a variety of outdoor activity including gardening, climbing, hill walking, rough shooting and canoeing. He has recently gotten back into photography and speaks multiple languages including Russian, which he is currently learning.

Sam is married with 2 children, 4 dogs and a very impress collection of rare Whiskeys and Gins that he’s not sure he will ever get through.

Date started at MPCT March 2020 Experience

I was born in Belfast N Ireland and after leaving school became an Apprentice Diesel Mechanic. At twenty I decided to join the Army as my Grandfather and Father where both Military. I joined the Royal Irish Regiment in 1996, doing Phase1Training in St Patrick’s Barracks followed by ITC Catterick for the Combat Infantry Course.

I done numerous tours and exercises all over the world including several tours of N Ireland, Kosovo invasion force, Iraq invasion force and Afghanistan as well as serving in Canada, America, Kenya, Botswana, Oman and the Falkland Islands to name a few.

I completed 23.5 years service in March 2020 and left as a WO2 with my last post being CSM of the ISR Coy 1 Royal Irish and believe the experiences I have had within the Army could be of benefit to those thinking of joining the Military.

I love the outdoors and enjoy keeping fit with my main passion being Mountain Biking and have worked my way up to MBCUK Tutor with the ability to lead, guide, coach and deliver qualifications in Mountain Biking, which I have done all over including Austria, Germany and Serbia. My other hobbies include flying of which I completed my Private Pilots License in 2005. I enjoy reading especially crime fiction and enjoy trying new things.

I currently serve in the Army Reserve as Coy 2iC of B Coy 3 Royal Welsh Swansea and enjoy the ability to continue developing young reserve soldiers. Personal development is important and I find the Army Reserve gives me the opportunity to continue to challenge myself.

When I saw the opportunity available at MPCT Swansea I knew I had to apply as it was a job that defined my working life to date and would give me the opportunity to pass on experiences, knowledge and mistakes I have made to better prepare those starting out on their exciting journey.

Date started at MPCT Aug 2021 Experience

I joined HM Intelligence Corps in 2007. I served 13 years regular service, enjoying postings in Germany, West Wales, Northern Ireland and Northern England. My trade skill encompassed Operational Intelligence, Counter Intelligence and Security, Signals Intelligence and Electronic Warfare and, Materiel, Personnel Exploitation (Weapons Intelligence).

I put these skills to the test on three operational tours, Herrick 19 with 14 Signal Regiment (EW), Shader 5 with 2 Mercian’s and Blanca 2 with Task Force 6.

Outside my trade craft I also gained a number of instructional qualification such as AAPTI and AABDI; as well as numerous Adventurous Training qualifications, which also opened the door to an 18 month attachment to the AT Wing (Castlemartin). It was there, I solidified my love of teaching, even gaining a level 3 in Education and Higher Learning.

I transferred to B Company (Rorkes Drift) 3rd Battalion The Royal Welsh Reserve in 2020, and have since gained further qualifications in Counter CBRN and range instruction.

I believe knowledge is important; and if passed on correctly can inspire those who come next to do and achieve great things.
