MPCT North East feature on BBC Look North!
22nd August 2018
On Tuesday 21st August, Learners and Staff were filmed by the BBC at our college in Newcastle. The coverage aired at 6.30 pm and MPCT had approximately 3 minutes air-time within which Learners, Staff and the Regional Operations Manager Laurence Corbett spoke fantastically about MPCT. The college was marketed as a route for young people after their GCSEs in light of GCSE Results day being on Thursday 23rd August.
Mr. Corbett spoke about how MPCT provides a reason for young people to get out of bed in the morning, gives them motivation, a purpose and goals to work towards. It was also expressed clearly by Mr. Corbett and the BBC reporter that MPCT does not mean you have to join the military, but rather it provides guidance and confidence building skills ready for military or civilian life.
Learners were filmed taking part in daily activities in the college, including PT and log-runs. Learners were also filmed engaging with other military organisations and 4 Learners were interviewed by the BBC. Learners spoke confidently and highly of MPCT, with one Learner replying “yes” with a smile, when asked if he felt like he’d “clicked” by attending MPCT.
It was a truly pride-inducing moment to see MPCT North East getting the platform it deserves, showing the difference they are already making to the lives of young people from that region. Well done and Congratulations to all Learners and Staff involved!
