Andrew’s time in education started after A Levels where he studied at University to achieve a degree in Design in 2005. This gave him the opportunity to work for a company designing resources and posters for schools in all curriculum subjects. Shortly after this, Andrew followed his ambition to be part of the military where he joined the Royal Engineers. This gave him many opportunities to travel and gain practical skills, whilst also experiencing many positive challenges and personal growth through a military lifestyle.
After six years in the military, Andrew decided to pursue a career back in education where he completed my PGCE Secondary in Design and Technology which allowed me to combine the experiences of his degree and practical skills from the Royal Engineers.
Andrew joined the MPCT Team in 2014 and progressed from Training Instructor to Head of Schools. His current position allows Andrew to continue to train and learn from new instructors, whilst shaping the Military Preparation School curriculum to engage and develop pre-16 learner’s employability skills and fitness whilst enhancing school curriculums around the UK.
I Joined the Army at the age of 16 where I had a 10 year career serving with 1st The Queens Dragoon Guards. During my time in the Army I was based in Germany and was fortunate enough to be deployed to Afghanistan in 2009 and 2011 and various deployments to Canada and Europe. I spent the last 2 years of my career in a Phase 2 training establishment as a Physical Training Instructor and Troop Corporal.
I have always had a passion for teaching and being a role model. To pass on experience and knowledge to students so that they can make better life choices that could positively impact them in the future is the perfect career.
I joined the Royal Marines back in July 2015, when I was 20 years old and served for 5 years. I reached the rank of L/cpl in my previous role before leaving in July 2020. During my time in service, I travelled all over the UK, from Inverness to Cornwall and abroad including Winter warfare training in Norway, close quarter battle training in America, field firing in Germany, just to name a few. I also represented RM in football and 7’s rugby.
When I left in July 2020, I was lucky enough to get the opportunity to open my own CrossFit gym which has been open now since September under the name ‘Imperium’, even though the pandemic was not the best time to start a new business it has survived. Along with coaching people in CrossFit, I am a very keen CF athlete competing in various competitions all over the UK.
My passion has always been health and fitness, and thrive off motivating people to reach their goals in whatever they may be in life.
